This season trench coats reign supreme and this uber feminine top channels that vibe in an easy to wear and super cute tee! Pair with everything from your favorite jeans, to high waisted pants, to pencil skirts. The fabric is a fabulous weight – not to heavy, but substantial enough to hold it’s shape and to rock to more formal affairs should you choose.

This top is like the spring trend trifecta – pastel (pastels are huge this spring in blush, lavender, and lemon), ruching (thats the shirred puckering on the arms), and its off the shoulder! Looks like a skinny pant, feels like a legging due to their super stretchiness – they are 97% cotton and 3% spandex. Best of all twill pants (think your old favorite khakis) are the perfect match for all of your Spring must have tops! *While these are super stretchy they due run a bit short. Please size up if you are tall or in between sizes. I have on the small in the second set of pics above.

This versatile – wear-now/wear-later piece has details galore. I love the crisp white with the all over navy print and the mixed colored tassels on the lace up neck and the four points of the hem. The lace-up neck detail is made from a heavy navy blue cording which pops against the white. Wear it now with a tank and jeans and sandals or booties and over your bathing suit all vacay or summer long – such a great coverup!

A seersucker dress that is totally bra friendly and super sweet – yes please! I love how the seersucker lines up in the v-neck to create a chevron look. And the side ties complete the look! The quality, fit, and look of this dress are on part with a certain Whale company and just a fraction of the price.

HELLO SUNSHINE – FLORAL MAXI WITH CRISS-CROSS SMOCKED BUST $44 available in white floral in sizes small-large

This is such gorgeous maxi. The floral print is so right on for this seasons bright and bold prints and I love the criss-cross bust smocking detail. It is also super versatile – wear off your shoulder or it also works pulled up for a bra friendly look. Wear with heels for a formal affair or toss on with gold thong sandals for a totally effortless yet sexy look.

Last summer I began my love affair with wrap skirts and this blue and white stripe with ruffle edge is one of my favorites so far. It is just so easy to toss on with your favorite white tank or tee and look great. Dress up with heels for a night out or a wedding shower or wear with gold or nude flips for errands or going out to lunch. You could even pull this lovely over your one-piece bathing suit! LOVE LOVE LOVE.

My Top 7 Neiman Marcus Summer Sale Finds that are PERFECT for Fall!

I am still in full on summer mode. Summer clothes, summer shoes. Give me ALL of the sale bathing suits. No Fall thinking for this girl. I truly think September is going to be a hot one and I will be pleased with my purchasing decisions. BUT many of you have told me your have Fall on the brain. So, because I love so much – I will spend the remainder of the week scouring Summer Sales and finding you awesome items that are not only on sale, but that will become your Fall Favorite. Here are my top picks from Neiman Marcus’ New Summer Sale releases:

Alice & Olivia Embroidered Cotton Peasant Top (click here)

This top will take you from the hot and hazy days of summer into fall with ease. Just add your favorite jeans and boots and toss on a duster and you will look as crisp and in season as the fallen leaves. It’s a Wrap (or at least it looks like one)!

I have always loved skirts in the summer, especially in maxi lengths. The wrap skirt – this season’s hottest trend in skirts, is making me want to wear one each and every day! Whether it be mini, midi, or maxi – the ruffle effect and along with the dip of the front hem, makes the wrap skirt decidedly feminine without even trying. Whether you are wearing it casually with a graphic tee or with a tank of off the shoulder top out for a night on the town – you will look like a million bucks without trying (and without breaking the bank!).

The True Wraps

Whether your style is more utilitarian or girly – there is a wrap skirt for you. Simply Add your favorite basic tank or tee to any of these lovelies and you will be sure to turn heads.

Olive Flounce Wrap – Shein $20. 100% cotton and looks amazing, but I can not speak to its quality – the price is so good it makes me wonder! Worth a try as it is a great silhouette in a fabuouls color that transitions easily to Fall.
Denim Maxi Wrap – Level 99 (at anthro) $98. This one is timeless in the denim chambray and it will also transition right into Fall with your favorite boots.
Navy Stripe Midi Wrap – Gap currently $26 with code “deal” and what a deal! I love all things nautical and this fits the bill. Toss on a white tank and your favorite gold or navy flips for day or even your favorite chucks or camel sandals for night. Add a denim jacket if it gets chilly. It doesn’t get much easier.
I am also smitten (by way of the web) with this Striped Blue and White Wrap Ruffle Skirt from Shein – $25. I just ordered – so i will report back.
Finally – my favorite wrap skirt ever. In crisp cotton poplin (see pic above) and the most amazing blue – the Ruffle Wrap Skirt from JCrew – on sale for $79.99. They had sold out and a few sizes just popped back up. So run if you want this lovely!

The Pretenders

Love the look of a wrap skirt, but don’t enjoy actually wrapping? These skirts give you the look, yet have their own closure to make wearing them a snap. And just like the real thing – the addition of a simple tank or tee makes the look complete.

A Fab Maxi Dress, Will Go a Long Way

Friday I was asked to share some of my favorite Maxi Dresses of the season! As the Maxi is legit my favorite dress of summer (and I own MANY), I was thrilled by this request. This spent the weekend searching for fab finds.

A little background on me and dresses: I was the dress buyer while at Century 21 Department stores and I became sort of an addict. I truly believe that if you find a great dress, you will have it for years to come. The dress above is my absolute favorite Maxi Dress and you will not believe this…..I got it in 2008 (just before I got married) and still wear it often. My wish is to help you find a dress that you wear for years to come!

As usual, there are so many cute maxis to choose from this season. Let’s start with the easy, casual, knit crowd. Most of these silouhettes come in both solid and stripes, but I am currently digging the nautical vibe from the stripe variety. From left to right here are the cream of the crop: Left – Gap Ribbed Striped Racer Maxi (comes in navy and white and gray and white). For errand running, shopping, or sight seeing – wear it with your favorite sneakers as shown or dress up with a cute block heeled sandal or espadrille for a casual summer gathering. Today it’s just $38 (regularly $79.95) with code “sunshine.” Middle – Striped Tank Maxi from Old Navy. Super easy for anywhere summer brings you. Just add flip flops and go! And at $17 it is a no brainer (again use code “sunshine”). On Right – Felicity & Coco Strapless Stripe Maxi Dress with Knot Keyhole Back. I love the mixed stripes, the drape of the skirt, and the unexpected back interest – they make this dress one you’ll way for summers to come. $88 at Nordstrom.

Looking for the “it” look of the summer in Maxi form? The off the shoulder ruffle dress fills that bill. Both feminine and flirty, it is equally as home at an afternoon wedding as it is for an evening cocktail party. Here are my favorite finds in all price ranges: Left – the sophisticated blue and white seersucker like stripe Ruffle One Shoulder Maxi from Banana Republic at the amazing price of $48 with code “sunshine” (normally $158)!!!! pair her with a pair of gold flats for daytime or with gold heels or espadrilles for evening. Middle – Navy Dots…swoon worthy (think Pretty Woman) in my opinion. I personally purchased this for a 4th of July party and can not wait to put it on. $58 at LuLu’s. Right – a preppy menswear like stripe, off the shoulder dress, which reminds me of a old school glam Ralph Lauren Dress, but this one is just $58 and from Forever 21 (and yes I am guilty of indulging in this brand at age 38 – shhh, don’t tell). I truly have a major crush on this maxi!

The Maxi is a staple in any wardrobe. Be it spaghetti strap, strapless, or a tank silhouette – you host can’t go wrong in a Maxi with a great print and an easy fit. All of these fit that bill. Left – An easy Woven Maxi Dress from Felicity & Coco at Nordstrom ($98) that comes in several amazing prints and a gorgeous solid navy. Light weight and airy – it will keep you cool while looking hot ;). Middle – I adore this gold floral print and the smocked bodice is so flattering. The color lends it self to transitioning to fall with the addition of a denim jacket and a camel bootie. At $55 its a must have from Socialite. Right – a mixed media dress in two rich and vibrant prints. A head turner for sure. The Parkland Maxi Dress at Anthropologie.

Lastly, here are a few dresses that are a bit different and special – so beware, compliments will ensue!

First – a gingham woven Maxi Dress from JCrew with pockets (who doesn’t love pockets!?!). I love the simple elegance and versatility of this dress. With a pair of leather flip flops she is great for day and add some heels and statement earrings and she is black tie worthy! Currently 25% off with code “summer” – making it $126.

Next – a crochet top Maxi. The mix of textures makes it stand apart and the colors are so deep and drenched with complexity. If all that isn’t enough, the tie back just seals the deal for me! At Anthropologie – $168 the Violet Sunset Crocheted Dress makes me smile.

Last, but not least, The Sally Dress from Hutch. This one may just be my favorite of the bunch. My beautiful and fashionable friend wore it for her 40th Birthday and I have been thinking of it ever since. Maybe its the elephant print, or the fitted knit top, or the criss cross tie back….or all of it together. Whatever it may be, this dress will be one of your summer favs for summers to come – especially as it is on sale for $148.99 (regularly $255) and you can get an extra 20% off if you sign up for their email list bringing it to $119!
